The project aims to elevate contemporary dance in the Danube region by establishing the Danube Dance Alliance through innovative, modular, and hybrid international co-productions.
As a stepping stone towards a long-term cooperation and business model, the project will engage 8 transdisciplinary organisations from Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary, Bulgaria, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina in developing an international Co-Production centred around contemporary dance.
The Co-Production will merge contemporary dance with new technologies, theatre, performance art, puppetry, architecture and urban design, tourism and regional development, resulting in a modular show, available as a Live, VR or hybrid performance. Production will be co-developed through 10 co-creation workshops with local communities in 5 cities (Trbovlje, Velenje, Svetvinčenat, Belgrade, Sarajevo), involving over 50 international artists and 11,000 local creatives, craftspeople, businesses and individuals, utilising local resources. The developed co-production will be performed Live in 5 locations, while the VR Experience will tour 10 more cities in the Danube region, altogether directly engaging over 6,200 spectators in contemporary dance.
The project aligns seamlessly with the Creative Europe programme, emphasizing cultural diversity, economic potential, and innovation in the cultural and creative sectors. In essence, the project seeks to create an international alliance for the development of the contemporary dance scene in the region, promoting sustainability, and fostering cross-disciplinary international collaborations. The innovative use of technology, collaborative practices, and a commitment to sustainable development underscore the project’s potential to leave a lasting impact on the contemporary dance landscape in the Danube region and beyond.
