Delavski dom Trbovlje is a spacious venue designed by architect Marko Zupančič in the city center of Trbovlje. Completed in 1956 through the contributions of workers and local enterprises, it was built as a representative structure of a new era and an expression of faith in a brighter future. How the people of Trbovlje envisioned this future can still be seen today in the mosaic by Prešeren Award winner Marij Pregelj, which adorns the venue’s facade.
Beyond the mosaic, the building’s distinctive exterior is defined by a nearly square floor plan and an undulating outer wall with gaps that allow light to pour through. This softness, spaciousness, and gentle dynamism also shape the interior, where events take place across the theater and cinema halls, two smaller lecture rooms, a gallery, museum spaces, and a studio.
The spatial unity of the halls fosters a sense of connection among the audience, while the wavy wooden wall paneling contributes to excellent acoustics. The superb architectural design, modern equipment, and the open, airy nature of the spaces allow Delavski dom to continue hosting top-tier events to this day.
