A dancer and a robot dog in the chimney of the Trbovlje power plant.
We invite you to CODA, a performance in the chimney of the Trbovlje power plant bringing together Trbovlje dancer Nik Rajšek and a robot dog. Join us on Thursday, 17 September, at 18.00.
Admission to the performance is free, but registration through the form available here is required.
More about the performance:
CODA is a solo dance performance that opens a dialogue between human movement and a robot dog, exploring labour, automation and the changing relationship between people and machines. It is set in the chimney of the Trbovlje power plant, the tallest chimney in Europe and at the same time a monumental remnant of the industrial past of the Zasavje region.
The performance centres on the fear that the dancer, the worker and ultimately the human body might one day be replaced by technology. As the robot follows and challenges the dancer, the boundaries between body and machine begin to blur, raising questions of control, connection and what remains beyond automation.
The work is a reflection on the human search for genuine contact in an age marked by artificial intelligence and constant digital connectivity. It questions the roles of technology – is it our partner, our mirror, our rival or an extension of ourselves – and explores what remains fundamentally human: touch, vulnerability, presence and the need to belong.
CODA understands culture as a space in which we can explore together, ask questions and reshape the relationships between technology, labour, nature and community.
