A dance journey into the Trbovlje chimney, an abandoned swimming pool in Sarajevo, the Fountain of Youth in Belgrade, the Velenje mine and the meadow in front of the Istrian castle in Svetvinčenat.
We invite you to see DanceScapes, a dance piece that takes you through five cities in the Balkans in 30 minutes. More than five choreographers and more than ten professional dancers have carried contemporary dance out into the open, beyond the usual venues, connecting the stories of abandoned places with movement.
The Trbovlje premiere will take place on Wednesday, 16 September, at 18.30 on the stage of Delavski dom Trbovlje, after which it can be seen from Thursday to Saturday between 10.00 and 12.00 and between 16.00 and 18.00.

The film is a departure into the world of dance – an ode to quiet spaces and forgotten presence, where the body reshapes silent voids. DANCESCAPES is a 360-degree virtual reality experience that brings together five choreographers and nineteen performers in a single journey through music, revisiting places across the Balkans. Our gaze can take in the whole space as, in one continuous sweep, we take in the stories of the past and reimagine the future through dance.
I wanted to follow the connections between different languages of movement, soundscapes, the interweaving of light and dark, architectural echoes and singular settings. Dance breathes life back into these spaces, like an echo travelling through landscapes. Some movements carry threads of the past, others move through the bustle of everyday life. We turn our attention to the individual while sinking deeper into a space where two worlds meet – where the weight of the past also draws a community closer, setting collectivity and connection in motion. Where movement does not stop but lives on in hope. Where light is born from the cracks in which dreams are built.
